In 1938, Fern Formica answered a casting call that transported her to Hollywood—and to a strange and wonderful land located somewhere over the rainbow. Because of her diminutive size and extensive stage experience on the vaudeville circuit, she was quickly cast as a Munchkin Maiden in MGM's upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz. What started out as just another job turned into cherished memories of working on one of the greatest motion pictures of all time.

Decades later, Fern remained in California, where she ran a ceramic studio and reflected on the glamour of old Hollywood. To commemorate her role, she applied her artistic talents to this limited-edition collector’s series, designing, sculpting, and handcrafting each piece herself.
